The global crypto market stood at $2.34 trillion on June 17, down 0.5% over the past 24 hours, while total trading volume came in at $77.5 billion. Bitcoin (BTC) slipped to $65,509, a 1.27% decline, with $25.7 billion in trading volume and a market cap of $1.31 trillion. Ethereum (ETH) traded at $1,781.55, down 0.71%, with volume at $14.4 billion and capitalization at $215 billion.
BTC continued to dominate the market at 56.3%, while ETH accounted for 9.25%. Stablecoins edged up 0.1% in 24 hours, reaching a combined market cap of $310.6 billion and trading volume of $63.8 billion. The DeFi sector rose 5.1%, taking market capitalization to $69 billion with $6.5 billion in trading volume and a global dominance level of 2.9%.
RDNT leads gainers as UNI and WLD post double-digit moves
Altcoins were the most active part of the market. Radiant Capital (RDNT) climbed to $0.001528, surging 342.4% in a day, with trading volume of $5.75 million. Uniswap (UNI) gained 15.27% to $3.37, supported by $520.11 million in volume. Worldcoin (WLD) appeared in two data entries, with price quoted between $0.6929 and $0.6947, while its 24-hour gain ranged from 15.63% to 15.94%. Trading activity was above $1.2 billion.
Other notable gainers included Hyperliquid (HYPE) at $73.50, up 9%; LAB at $13.15, up 35.19%; SKYAI at $0.4635, up 27.36%; and SPX6900 (SPX) at $0.3911, up 15.67%. On the losing side, Audiera (BEAT) dropped to $2.38, falling 41.76%. LayerZero (ZRO) declined 5.29% to $1.06, and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) slipped 4.49% to $214.02.
Extreme Fear persists as market volume contracts sharply
The Crypto Fear and Greed Index was at 22, keeping the market in Extreme Fear. That was nearly flat from the prior day's reading of 23, though still above last week's low of 9. Compared with June 16, total market capitalization moved from $2.35 trillion to $2.34 trillion, but trading volume fell much more sharply, dropping from $137.8 billion to $77.5 billion. The market had posted a 1.5% gain a day earlier and shifted to a 0.5% loss on June 17, with both BTC and ETH reversing from gains to declines.
Ethereum testing, MiCA approval, and new tax rules shape the news flow
On the industry side, Ethereum developers entered final devnet testing for the Glamsterdam upgrade, covering all planned EIPs. The activation date has not been confirmed, though the launch is expected in the second half of 2026. K33 Markets AS also secured MiCA authorization in Norway, allowing it to offer crypto custody, order execution, and asset transfer services.
Policy and platform developments were active as well. Illinois Governor Pritzker signed a 0.2% tax on digital asset transactions, transfers, and custody services, including self-transfers, a move opposed by the Crypto Council for Innovation. In Washington, Senator Lummis and bipartisan lawmakers asked Treasury Secretary Bessent to clarify state certification procedures under the GENIUS Act. Coinbase launched the SEC-registered AI advisor Coinbase Advisor and expanded its stock, options, and perpetual product lineup. On Solana, Backpack's tokenized SpaceX stock SPCX helped push tokenized stock volume to a record $187.9 million in 24 hours, with SPCX contributing more than $105 million.
