JupiterDAO has opened a governance vote that will decide how JUP emissions move forward, putting token holders in charge of a choice between keeping Jupuary on its current track or pausing several emission channels and returning 700 million JUP to the community cold multisig treasury. The proposal was published on Tuesday, with voting scheduled to open at 11 a.m. UTC and continue through Saturday.

Two options would set the 2026 emission path

The proposal lays out two routes. Under the first, Jupuary would continue under the existing framework, and the airdrop checker would go live about one week after voting ends. Team vesting, Mercurial stakeholder distributions, bonus pools, and Jupnet incentives would all proceed on their current schedules. The initial Jupuary phase would begin with 200 million JUP.

The second option would pause emissions across multiple channels. Jupuary would be postponed, while 700 million JUP would be sent back to the Community Cold Multisig. The DAO would also preserve current usage and staking snapshots for possible future use.

Supply concerns center on three emission sources

JupiterDAO said the current debate is focused on three areas: Jupuary airdrops, team vesting, and Mercurial stakeholder allocations. According to the DAO, those emission streams have drawn concern over token supply under current market conditions, which is the main issue this vote is meant to address.

If the pause option passes, emissions from the team reserve would stop indefinitely. In place of direct token emissions, team members would receive JUP credits backed by Jupiter’s balance sheet. Any token sales by team members would be absorbed directly by Jupiter.

Mercurial distributions could be accelerated with matching buybacks

Under the same pause plan, Mercurial stakeholders would receive accelerated airdrops, and Jupiter would buy an equivalent amount of tokens on the open market. The proposal also says wallet activity would be monitored, with matching buybacks used to offset any sales.

Public feedback remains open until Tuesday morning Singapore time, after which the formal voting window runs through Saturday. JupiterDAO also said JUP stakers will remain eligible for ASR rewards whether or not they vote. Even so, it urged holders to take part because of the proposal’s broad scope, and said the outcome will be implemented without modification.
