Kazakhstan has issued its first sovereign panda bond, raising RMB 3.4 billion (approximately $500 million). The three-year bond carries a yield of 1.9% and was listed on both the Beijing Financial Assets Exchange and the Astana International Exchange, with subscriptions reaching twice the offering size. Kazakhstan's total external debt to China has climbed to $12.87 billion, up roughly $3.5 billion from the end of 2024. The country, once a major player in global Bitcoin mining hash rate, now draws investor attention to its crypto regulatory direction amid deepening financing ties with Beijing.

Kazakhstan has priced its debut sovereign panda bond, raising RMB 3.4 billion (about $500 million) in the Chinese onshore market. The three-year notes, carrying a 1.9% coupon, drew subscriptions of twice the issuance size, according to Techub News.

The bonds are listed on the Beijing Financial Assets Exchange and the Astana International Exchange. The dual listing gives the issuance a foothold in both the Chinese capital market and Kazakhstan's own financial infrastructure.

Kazakhstan's outstanding external debt to China now stands at $12.87 billion, up roughly $3.5 billion from the end of 2024. The increase reflects the two countries' expanding financial cooperation in recent months.

Kazakhstan's foray into the panda bond market carries particular weight for crypto observers. The Central Asian nation once commanded a significant share of global Bitcoin mining hash rate, drawing miners with cheap coal power before shifting policy and imposing stricter energy oversight. With ties to Beijing deepening on the financing front, investors are watching whether cryptocurrency regulation in Kazakhstan follows a similar trajectory of alignment. CryptoBriefing reported the development.
