A legal dispute over crypto assets involving Nancy Jones, widow of country music icon George Jones, has taken a new turn. Kirk West, who has been accused of stealing more than $11 million in XRP, has filed a countersuit in Tennessee, rejecting the theft allegations and arguing that the disputed wealth was built through “prudent crypto investments” during their relationship and should be shared.

Dispute expands beyond XRP

West was arrested last year over allegations that he stole roughly $400,000 in cash and more than 5.5 million XRP. The case is not limited to XRP alone. It also involves ETH, DOGE, SHIB, and XLM, turning the matter into a broader conflict over digital assets and ownership rather than a single-token theft claim.

According to the reported details, Nancy Jones said her Ledger hardware wallet had been compromised. She was able to recover about 5 million XRP, but 483,000 XRP remain unaccounted for. The report values the missing amount at more than $1 million, making it one of the central points in the ongoing legal battle.

West seeks division of additional assets

In his countersuit, West is not only denying the XRP theft accusations but also seeking a division of other property, including about $5 million in gold and silver assets and $1 million in cash. He also accuses Nancy Jones of fraud and defamation, indicating that the case now spans alleged theft, asset ownership, wealth accumulation during the relationship, and reputational harm.

The dispute highlights several issues that are increasingly relevant in crypto-related litigation, including wallet security, tracing ownership of digital assets, and determining how investment gains should be treated when personal relationships break down. With the case covering XRP and other tokens alongside precious metals and cash, the court’s treatment of source of funds and asset division could become a major point of interest.

For now, both sides are maintaining sharply different accounts, and no final legal determination has been made on the ownership of the disputed XRP or the other assets involved.
