Interoperability protocol LayerZero reports processing over $260 billion in asset transfers across more than 830 Omnichain Fungible Tokens (OFTs) on 170+ blockchains. The supported asset range covers memecoins, tokenized treasuries, and stablecoins. Builders can customize security, verification, and compliance parameters for cross-chain transfers.
Crypto-Native Assets Reach New Markets
Crypto-native projects use LayerZero primarily to expand into new chains. Over $40 billion in native digital assets — including L1 tokens, wrapped Bitcoin, and memecoins like PENGU, CAT, and WIF — operate as OFTs. Teams rely on the protocol to access trading venues, lending platforms, and emerging ecosystems.
PENGU moved from Solana to Abstract and then to Hyperliquid for spot and leveraged trading. Assets such as SEI, TRON, and APT utilized LayerZero when Pump.fun launched on Solana. When Plasma deployed its stablecoin chain, more than $15 billion flowed through LayerZero into the network.
Tokenized Asset Issuers Distribute Stablecoins and Treasuries Across Chains
Issuers of tokenized real-world assets leverage LayerZero to distribute stablecoins, treasury products, yield instruments, and equities across multiple networks. Tether's USDT0 and XAUT0 expanded to over 24 chains via LayerZero. Ethena launched five assets across more than 30 chains, including USDe, sUSDe, ENA, and USDtb — a tokenized fund created with BlackRock.
Ondo connected its $500 million tokenized T-bill product across six chains and issued 150 tokenized equities across four chains, including Hyperliquid. Dinari and Theo use the same infrastructure for tokenized equities and gold.
Financial Institutions Adopt Compliance and Verification Layers
Financial institutions deploy LayerZero to enforce compliance rules across blockchain networks. Decentralized Verifier Networks can verify transaction data, provide attestations, and enforce sanctions screening and jurisdiction checks.
PayPal adopted the OFT Standard for PYUSD in November 2024, with Paxos, Google Cloud, and LayerZero Labs as required signers. Fidelity's Center for Applied Technology launched a DVN in February 2026 for Ondo's USDY product. Worldpay and Global Payments launched a Payments DVN in March 2026. Deutsche Telekom operates an on-premise DVN focused on data sovereignty and GDPR compliance. Fireblocks integrated LayerZero into its Tokenization Engine, enabling regulated asset issuance across 170+ chains.
