Ledger said at TOKEN2049 in Singapore on Oct. 7 that it is rolling out Crypto Loan, a feature that lets eligible users borrow USDC or USDT against cbBTC or WBTC without selling their Bitcoin exposure. The service is supported by decentralized lending protocol Morpho through technology provider Yield.xyz, and is built directly into Ledger Wallet. Users can create and manage loans, track loan-to-value ratios, add collateral, repay debt, or increase borrowing from within the wallet interface. Ledger said sensitive actions still require physical confirmation on a Ledger hardware device, while private keys and final transaction approval remain under the user’s control. The company also said its hardware devices will support direct connections to Morpho, removing the need for browser extensions or software wallets. Ledger added that Crypto Loan will be opened gradually to eligible users. The announcement adds to the company’s push beyond hardware wallets and into financial services, as Coinbase has already introduced Morpho-based fixed-rate Bitcoin-backed loans and JPMorgan is exploring Bitcoin and Ether as loan collateral.

Ledger announced at TOKEN2049 in Singapore on Oct. 7 that it is launching Crypto Loan, a new feature that allows eligible users to borrow USDC or USDT against cbBTC or WBTC without selling their Bitcoin.

The product is supported by decentralized lending protocol Morpho through technology provider Yield.xyz. Inside Ledger Wallet, users can create and manage loans, monitor loan-to-value ratios, add collateral, repay outstanding balances, or increase the amount borrowed.

Ledger said critical actions will still require physical confirmation on a Ledger hardware device. Private keys and final transaction authorization remain in the hands of the user. According to Ledger, Crypto Loan will be rolled out gradually to eligible users. The move extends the company’s business beyond hardware wallets and deeper into financial services.

Coinbase has previously launched fixed-rate Bitcoin-backed loans based on Morpho, while JPMorgan is also exploring the use of Bitcoin and Ether as collateral for loans.
