Lighter DEX now requires LIT staking to enter its liquidity pool at a 1:10 ratio. Existing liquidity providers have until January 28, 2026 to stake or get their deposits removed.

Lighter, a decentralized perpetual exchange, has made $LIT staking a mandatory condition for accessing its Lighter Liquidity Pool (LLP). The rule, announced via the official X account on January 15, sets a hard deadline of January 28, 2026 for existing liquidity providers to comply or face removal of unstaked deposits.

Staking Ratio of 1:10 Takes Immediate Effect

Under the new framework, users must stake LIT tokens before depositing into the LLP, with a fixed 1:10 staking-to-deposit ratio. New participants are subject to the rule immediately; existing LP depositors have a two-week grace period during which they can keep funds unstaked. After January 28, any unstaked deposits will no longer be allowed in the pool.

Rationale: Aligning Token Holders with LPs

The protocol states that mandatory staking better aligns token holders' interests with those of liquidity providers, enhancing risk-adjusted returns and long-term platform value. The LLP is a core component of Lighter's ecosystem, generating yields and serving as a cushion during liquidations to stabilize trading in volatile markets. Lighter intends to extend the staking model to other public pools, supporting its vision of democratizing on-chain hedge fund strategies.

Added Incentives for Stakers

Beyond pool access, LIT stakers receive extra benefits: zero withdrawal and transfer fees for staking 100 LIT or more; yield rewards (APR to be announced); fee discounts for market makers and high-frequency trading firms based on stake size; and continued zero-fee trading for retail users. Staking functionality will also roll out on mobile soon after the recent Lighter app launch.

LIT Token: Rapid Growth Meets Short-Term Slide

Launched last month, LIT allocated 50% of total supply to ecosystem growth, including airdrops and future programs. Buybacks began on January 5, consistent with the tokenomics model. The platform has grown quickly since its mainnet launch in October, recording over $200 billion in monthly trading volume in December and outstripping several major competitors. It also raised $68 million at a $1.5 billion valuation, led by Founders Fund and Ribbit Capital. At press time, LIT trades around $1.83, down 15.23% since the staking announcement, reflecting short-term price action.
