Liquid Network, the Bitcoin sidechain developed by Blockstream, said an independent external security audit of Elements v23.3.4 is now underway. The review is meant to add validation before Peg-out withdrawals, which let users redeem bitcoin from the sidechain, are restored safely. At the same time, the Liquid Federation is coordinating updates to the PAK, or peg-out authorization key, list. That process includes replacing existing entries and making sure all Peg-out keys are stored in cold storage. Foresight News had previously reported that Liquid Network released the emergency Elements v23.3.4 version on Sept. 9 to update Functionary nodes. The release fixed a proof verification cache vulnerability and strengthened the cache key used for range proofs.
