London Stock Exchange Group has partnered with Payward, the parent company of Kraken, to tokenize 100 London-listed stocks. The tokenized securities, called xStocks, are designed for 24-hour trading and custody in digital wallets, with the first batch expected to go live within weeks. The two companies also plan to explore issuing stocks natively on-chain, a structure that would give securities digital form and legal validity from the moment of issuance. Because of regulatory constraints, these tokenized shares will not be made available to British investors in the initial phase. They may later be listed on LSE 24, the London Stock Exchange's extended-hours trading platform, according to Spaziocrypto.

The London Stock Exchange Group is working with Payward, the company behind crypto exchange Kraken, to put 100 LSE-listed stocks on-chain, according to Spaziocrypto.

LSEG plans to tokenize the shares into products branded xStocks, with support for 24-hour trading and digital-wallet custody. The first batch is expected to go live within weeks.

Beyond converting existing listed equity, the two partners will explore issuing shares natively on a blockchain. The aim is for securities to carry a digital form and legal validity from the moment they are issued.

The tokenized stocks will not be available to UK-based investors in the initial phase because of regulatory reasons. LSEG says the products could later be listed on LSE 24, the exchange's extended-hours trading venue.
