Lumentum CEO Michael Hurlston said in an interview with Bloomberg in Tokyo on Oct. 9 that the company’s optical component capacity has already been sold out through early 2029, driven by demand from AI data centers. He said the supply crunch is expected to persist, with roughly 70% of demand for some products still going unmet next year, while other products may continue to face supply gaps equal to about 30% of demand through 2028. TradingBeats data cited by BlockBeats showed that, as of publication, the latest prices of LITE and AAOI perpetual contracts on Hyperliquid were $1,092 and $111.77, respectively. Those levels were up about 3.6% and 3.3% from before a related report published at 08:24 earlier in the day. The move put optical communications-linked names in focus after the executive’s comments on tight supply and sustained demand.
