MapleStory Universe has opened its builder hub MSU Space and launched a global game creation competition called MapleStory Vibe Camp, adding a new public-facing layer to the project’s MSU 2.0 expansion. The initiative invites users around the world to create original games and interactive experiences using official MapleStory Universe resources.
Vibe Camp runs from June 8 to June 29
According to the announcement, MapleStory Vibe Camp will run from June 8 through June 29 and includes a prize pool. Projects submitted through MSU Space will be considered for selection, with chosen entries eligible for recognition, rewards, and possible future participation opportunities inside the ecosystem. Additional details and registration are available at https://vibecamp.msu.io.
MSU 2.0 debut highlights on-chain activity and revenue
The company described the launch as the first major public activation of MSU 2.0, the next phase following MapleStory Universe’s first year of live operations. It said the ecosystem has recorded more than 150 million cumulative on-chain transactions and generated approximately 49.1 million NXPC, equal to about $31 million in ecosystem revenue. The broader plan is to move beyond a single game environment and build a platform around MapleStory IP that supports creation, distribution, and monetization.
MSU Space is built with Verse8 and uses AI-assisted tools
At the center of the rollout is MSU Space, a dedicated builder environment developed with Verse8. The platform gives creators access to MapleStory-themed characters, monsters, items, environments, and lore. Users can then rely on Verse8’s AI-assisted game creation tools to develop concepts from natural language prompts, refine gameplay ideas, and publish finished experiences directly through the platform.
The release frames this as a shift in who gets to build with established game IP. Instead of limiting participation to approved studios and partners, MapleStory Universe is opening parts of the process to a wider creator base by combining on-chain infrastructure, AI-driven creation tools, and community participation in one system.
Expansion centers on a broader builder economy
MSU 2.0 is presented as a move to turn MapleStory from a traditionally closed game IP into a more open foundation where communities can create new experiences, applications, and services. The partnership with Verse8 is meant to give new builders an easier entry point, especially developers and AI-native creators encountering the ecosystem for the first time.
The announcement also identifies Nexpace as a blockchain company based in Abu Dhabi focused on blockchain- and NFT-powered IP expansion. Verse8, for its part, is described as an AI-native creation and publishing platform developed by Planetarium Labs in collaboration with Jake Song, combining generative AI, an integrated game engine, and on-chain ownership.
