MARA Holdings has been sued in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York by consultant François Garcin, who previously helped build the company’s France business, according to INBi as cited by ChainCatcher. The lawsuit was filed on July 22 and seeks more than €11 million in compensation.
Garcin alleges that after MARA terminated his contract on March 6, 2026, the company failed to pay €2.4 million in advisory fees and about €5.92 million in success fees. The success fee claim is tied to a 4% commission based on a €148 million investment by Exaion, a subsidiary of EDF. That investment accounted for 64% of the capital in the related project.
The report also says Garcin’s past work included recruiting former Engie CEO Gérard Mestrallet, securing an invitation to the Choose France summit, and arranging a meeting with former French President François Hollande.
