Ethereum layer-2 network MegaETH has finished a seven-day stress test ahead of opening its public mainnet, processing 11 billion transactions in total. The project said the result represents the highest transaction count ever recorded across Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible blockchains. The test began on January 13 and sustained throughput between 15,000 and 35,000 transactions per second while live user applications remained active on the network.

Games, transfers, and swaps were all active during the test

The exercise was not limited to synthetic load in an isolated setting. During the evaluation period, users interacted with deployed applications including Stomp, a fully onchain player-versus-player monster battler, Smasher, a crypto-themed arcade game, and Crossy Fluffle. That title was also deployed on Base and Monad for performance comparison. At the same time, MegaETH handled backend activity such as Ethereum transfers and decentralized exchange swaps through Kumbaya to reach the target transaction volume.

This setup was aimed at showing how the network behaves under mixed demand instead of a single benchmark path. User-facing gameplay sat alongside transfers and trading-related operations, putting execution capacity under sustained pressure. It was a live-load test, not a quiet lab run.

Architecture favors execution speed with 10-millisecond block times

MegaETH uses a design built around centralized block production and 10-millisecond block times. In practical terms, the execution layer is optimized for speed rather than stronger decentralized consensus at that layer. For security, the network settles to Ethereum and uses EigenDA for data availability, a combination the project says supports transaction speeds closer to traditional web applications.

The model points to MegaETH’s pitch in plain terms: execute high-frequency activity on layer 2, then rely on Ethereum for settlement. The project has backing from notable figures including Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin and has raised approximately tens of millions of dollars in funding. Public mainnet is next, with USDm-powered apps in the first wave

After the stress test, MegaETH said it plans to launch its public mainnet in the coming days. The initial rollout will feature applications powered by the USDm stablecoin. Early deployments include DeFi protocols Brix Money, Avon, and WCM, along with consumer-facing platforms Hit, TopStrike, and Showdown TCG.

Later phases are set to add Euphoria, Blitzo, and UseRocket. Taken together, the stress test and the launch slate show where the project is focusing its final pre-launch effort: proving the network can stay responsive while multiple applications compete for throughput at the same time.
