Crypto trading volumes in the MENA region have reached nearly $350 billion annually, more than tripling from $100 billion in 2022, according to the Bitcoin Policy Institute. Saudi Arabia leads with 154% year-over-year growth, driven by institutional transfers (93% over $10,000). Turkey remains the largest market at nearly $200 billion, boosted by lira depreciation. The UAE recorded $53 billion in transactions, supported by regulatory frameworks like VARA and ADGM. Stablecoins account for 45%–52% of regional activity, surpassing Bitcoin’s share.

Data from the Bitcoin Policy Institute shows the MENA region’s annual crypto trading volume is now close to $350 billion, up from roughly $100 billion in 2022 — more than a tripling. Saudi Arabia is out front, posting a 154% year-over-year growth rate, and 93% of transactions are institutional transfers above $10,000.

Turkey is still the region’s biggest market at nearly $200 billion, pushed higher by the lira’s depreciation. And the UAE recorded about $53 billion in transactions, with institutional capital and regulatory setups like VARA and ADGM helping drive that activity.

Stablecoins make up 45% to 52% of crypto activity across the region, moving past Bitcoin’s share. Simple reason: demand for pegged assets.
