Meta’s new AI agent tool Muse moved quickly to the top of U.S. mobile app rankings after launch. According to market research firm Sensor Tower, Muse ranked No. 1 on the U.S. free charts for both Apple iOS and Google Play within its first six days and recorded 902,000 downloads, beating the 773,000 posted by the earlier Meta AI product over the same period.
Muse reached No. 1 on both U.S. app stores in its first six days
Sensor Tower senior data analyst Abe Yousef said Muse surpassed 902,000 downloads in the six days following its Sept. 8 debut. The app took the top spot on the U.S. free download rankings on both the App Store and Google Play, pointing to strong early traction.
Beyond the standalone app, Muse has also been integrated into WhatsApp, which expands its potential active-user reach.
Product focus shifts to a personalized agent with cross-platform connections
Unlike Meta AI, which had been more focused on generating images and short videos, Muse centers on a “personalized agent” model. The tool can use a user’s social content and connect through a browser to third-party platforms including Gmail, Google Calendar and OpenTable to handle routine digital tasks.
The report also said Muse has cross-platform integration capabilities that let it connect with services such as Facebook Marketplace, Instagram and Gmail, helping users carry out more complex tasks.
Meta is using a free-plus-paid subscription model
Muse is being offered under a basic free tier with premium paid options. Meta has introduced two subscription plans priced at $20 and $100 per month. Those plans include extra weekly compute tokens, creating a subscription revenue stream for the product.
Evercore ISI says early adoption points to returns on capital spending
Evercore ISI’s research team said the early adoption figures show Meta’s product innovation strategy is translating into actual usage. The firm said the data also suggests Meta’s $200 billion in capital spending on AI research and data centers is beginning to show results.
Analyst Mark Mahaney said the tool could become an important driver of user engagement and time spent. In addition to subscription fees, he said Muse may also open up new revenue foundations in advertising and transaction revenue-sharing.
Meta shares rose 11%, with chip suppliers also gaining
Meta shares climbed 11% on Monday after the product’s early progress received a positive market response. The report said the stock reached its highest close in nearly a year, and that the move marked its biggest single-day gain since April 2025.
The reaction spread to semiconductor names tied to the supply chain. AMD rose nearly 10%, pushing its market capitalization above the $1 trillion threshold. Intel gained 12%, while Arm jumped 17%, reflecting investor focus on hardware demand tied to AI end-user applications.
