MEXC’s latest reserve report shows its Bitcoin reserve ratio reached 267% in February, up from 158% in January. The exchange said its total Bitcoin holdings climbed to 12,003.98 BTC, nearly doubling from the previous month. The sharp month-over-month jump points to a much larger cushion against customer deposits in its largest crypto reserve bucket.
Bitcoin and Ethereum balances both moved higher
Based in Singapore, MEXC is described as one of the major digital asset exchanges by trading volume. The February disclosure also listed 73,433.86 ETH in reserves, equal to a reserve ratio of 112%. Taken together, the figures show that both of the exchange’s main crypto holdings were above total user balances for those assets.
Stablecoins were another major part of the report. MEXC said its USDT reserves were worth about $1.82 billion, while USDC holdings stood near $93.5 million. The reported reserve ratios were 117% for USDT and 124% for USDC. That leaves the platform with stated coverage above 100% not only in Bitcoin and Ether, but also in two of the most used settlement assets on exchanges.
On-chain visibility and external checks remain central
MEXC said client fund protection remains a top priority and added that a considerable share of reserves is held on-chain, allowing assets to be viewed and verified in real time. According to the report, its proof-of-reserves system uses a Merkle Tree verification method and is backed by independent audits.
The company said third-party reviews are conducted by Hacken to provide regular and objective validation of reserve figures. In its statement, MEXC linked the elevated reserve ratios to its approach to user asset protection. For exchanges, reserve disclosures, on-chain traceability, and outside audits have become key reference points for users watching custody and liquidity practices.
Other large exchanges are publishing reserve data as well
The push for clearer reserve reporting is not limited to MEXC. The article cited Binance’s February figures, which showed a 100.07% Bitcoin reserve ratio. It also said Binance’s reserves in Ethereum, Tether, and BNB were above total user balances. Bitget’s latest report put its overall reserve ratio at 169%, with Bitcoin at 352% and Ethereum at 147%.
Outside reserve reporting, MEXC recently introduced commission-free stock futures trading. The move points to a broader product strategy linking digital asset services with traditional finance products, while the exchange’s latest disclosure keeps the focus on fund security across both areas.
