Micron Technology is scheduled to report fiscal fourth-quarter results on Sept. 30, with investors also watching broader signals from the memory market. Nvidia Chief Financial Officer Colette Kress said on the company’s Aug. 26 fiscal second-quarter earnings call that Nvidia is seeing “extreme pricing conditions” in memory, with price increases running ahead of prior expectations and set to move higher next year. She said that pressure has already shown up in Nvidia’s margins, guiding gross margin to bottom in the 71% to 72% range in the fourth quarter before recovering to 72% to 73% in fiscal 2028. Kress also said the current memory shortage is being driven in large part by AI buildout itself. Separately, SK hynix said the memory market may not reach supply-demand balance until as early as 2030. The company has committed about $38.3 billion to expand two domestic sites in South Korea through 2031. In high-bandwidth memory, SK hynix holds about 50% market share, ahead of Samsung at 33% and Micron at 18%.
