Nous Research, an open-source AI company, has refreshed its hiring page and posted multiple full-time roles spanning AI evaluation, cloud infrastructure, product analytics, security, enterprise deployment and UI/UX design. The openings offer a direct view into where the company is putting resources as it grows Hermes Agent, its AI agent product, and extends its focus from model research into cloud services, enterprise rollouts and user-facing software.
Nous Research describes itself as a "frontier open-source AI company." Its stated mission is to build and distribute top-tier intelligence globally, with the view that powerful AI should not remain concentrated in the hands of a small number of large technology companies and should instead be made available more broadly through open-source development.
One of the company’s best-known products is Hermes Agent, an open-source AI agent with a learning loop. Nous Research is also developing DisTrO, a distributed model training system intended to let GPUs spread across the internet participate collectively in generative AI model training.
Eight categories of full-time roles are now listed

Evals hiring centers on benchmarks and regression workflows
One of the clearest signals in the new listings is the Machine Learning Engineer, Evals role. According to the posting, this position will handle AI agent capability evaluation, benchmark design, LLM-as-a-Judge systems and model failure analysis. The work includes expanding existing benchmarks such as GAIA, τ-Bench and SWE-bench, while also building weekly regression tests, a Judge Drift Dashboard and red-team evaluation processes.
Nous Research says applicants for the role should have at least three years of experience in software engineering, ML engineering, data science or research. The company also asks for familiarity with Python, Git, CI/CD, Docker and Linux, along with an understanding of evaluation-related statistical concepts including Cohen’s κ, precision/recall and confidence intervals.
Hermes Agent is being positioned for enterprise environments
Another strong hiring signal comes from the Forward Deployed Engineer role. Nous Research says this position will deploy Hermes Agent Enterprise directly into customer environments, connecting enterprise APIs, internal data sources, identity systems and business applications. The role is expected to support cloud, on-premises and hybrid architectures.
The description suggests the company is no longer focused only on making Hermes Agent available to the open-source community. It is also building the deployment and integration capabilities needed to serve enterprise customers.
The same direction appears in the security hiring. Nous Research says Hermes Agent has already been used in consumer settings and Fortune 500 enterprise environments, with deployment models that include multi-tenant SaaS, dedicated VPC, self-hosted and even air-gapped setups.
For that reason, the Security Engineer role covers security across AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure and Vercel, as well as Kubernetes, IAM, SOC 2, penetration testing and incident response. The company also specifically lists agentic AI risks such as agent identity, tool permissions, prompt injection and data provenance, pointing to the way permission control and data security are emerging as core infrastructure issues as AI agents move into enterprise use.
Hermes Cloud is growing as a separate product line
Nous Research is also expanding the Hermes Cloud team. The Software Engineer, Hermes Cloud role is focused on the cloud platform supporting Hermes Agent and Nous Portal, including model inference, agent execution, enterprise deployment, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, observability and cost optimization.
The company lists experience with OpenAI-compatible APIs, LLM infrastructure, inference systems and agent systems as preferred qualifications. Hermes Cloud is currently in preview, according to the role description, and is designed to let users deploy AI agents as cloud services that stay online 24/7. The platform also offers persistent memory, scheduling, automation and isolated sandbox capabilities.
Product, analytics and design teams are hiring too
Beyond infrastructure, Nous Research is adding to its product-facing teams. The Software Engineer, Product role will work on the Hermes Agent and Nous Portal experience across desktop, web and mobile. The company asks for at least seven years of full-stack development experience and specifically notes that candidates should make heavy use of AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity.
One of the more notable shifts in this hiring round is that Nous Research is not only looking for model and software engineers. The Product Analytics Engineer role will own the full product data stack for Hermes Agent, including event taxonomy, data pipelines, dashboards, funnels, cohorts, retention, churn and A/B experiments. The role also includes analyzing user behavior across platforms, acquisition channels, subscription plans, models and tools.
The UI/UX Designer opening points even more directly to how the company sees the next phase of agent products. In addition to designing desktop, web, mobile and terminal interfaces for Hermes Agent and Nous Portal, the role involves exploring interaction patterns specific to AI agents, including multi-step workflows, tool usage, long-running tasks and human-in-the-loop processes.

Nous Research is taking a relatively open approach to recruitment. The company says that if there is no current role matching a candidate’s background or career direction, but the person still wants to join Nous Research, they can send an email explaining what they want to do at the company and include a resume.
