Steven Goldfeder, co-founder of Offchain Labs, took to X to address a widespread misunderstanding about ARB's token supply. He clarified that some data inaccurately includes tokens held by the Arbitrum DAO treasury as locked. In reality, the vesting schedule for investors and team members is nearing completion, with all remaining locked tokens expected to fully unlock by March 2027. After that, only about 7.7% of the total ARB supply will remain locked. Goldfeder further explained that the bulk of ARB tokens are housed in the Arbitrum DAO treasury, which currently holds approximately 2.84 billion ARB. These tokens are not locked in the traditional sense; their movement is entirely controlled by ARB holders through governance votes. The DAO can only use these assets if approved by the token holders via voting.

Steven Goldfeder, co-founder of Offchain Labs, posted on X to clear up a major mix-up around the ARB token supply structure. Some market data had wrongly counted tokens sitting in the Arbitrum DAO treasury as part of the locked supply. That sparked confusion. Goldfeder said the unlock schedule for ARB investors and team members is almost finished, and every remaining locked token is expected to unlock by March 2027. After that, only about 7.7% of the total ARB supply will still be locked.

He also said most ARB tokens are actually sitting in the Arbitrum DAO treasury, which currently holds about 2.84 billion ARB. Those tokens are not locked in the usual sense. But their movement is fully controlled by ARB holders through governance votes. The DAO can use those assets only if token holders vote to approve the move.
