OKX said on Oct. 7 that it has launched a new Pre-IPO stock USD X contract, or X-Perp, with support for the OURAUSD UM trading pair. The rollout covers the exchange’s web interface, mobile app and API. According to the announcement, the product is a USD-settled delivery contract tied to the reference asset of a company that has not yet completed its IPO, allowing users to trade changes in valuation rather than hold equity. OKX said users do not own any shares through the product and are only trading price movements in the contract itself. The exchange also outlined its pricing logic, stating that market value is approximated by share price multiplied by total shares outstanding. After the IPO is completed, the contract will be gradually converted into a standard stock delivery contract.

OKX said on Oct. 7 that it has officially launched a new Pre-IPO stock USD X contract, or X-Perp, with the update rolling out across its web interface, app and API.

The supported trading pair is OURAUSD UM (X Contract).

How the contract works

According to OKX, the Pre-IPO X contract is a USD-settled delivery contract whose reference asset is a company that has not yet completed its IPO, allowing users to trade changes in its valuation.

Users do not hold any equity. They are only trading price movements in the delivery contract.

Its pricing method is described as: share price × total number of shares ≈ market capitalization.

What happens after the IPO

OKX said that once the IPO is completed, the delivery contract will be gradually converted into a standard stock delivery contract.
