Omacom Foundation Sponsorships Reach $12M as Coinbase CEO and TapTap Founder Join

Omacom Foundation's founding patrons have now contributed a total of $12 million, with new $1 million pledges from TapTap founder Yunjie Dai and Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong. Both have joined the Founding Patrons list. The foundation is backing the desktop Linux OS Omarchy and reserves a major role for cryptocurrency in its ecosystem.

David Heinemeier Hansson (DHH), creator of Ruby on Rails and partner at Basecamp (formerly 37signals), said on X that Omacom Foundation has received new $1 million commitments from TapTap founder Yunjie Dai and Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong. That brings total contributions from founding patrons to $12 million.

According to the Omacom Foundation website, both have joined its Founding Patrons roster. Omacom said it will reserve a significant place for cryptocurrency in its operating system and community.

DHH previously launched Omacom Foundation with $8 million in startup capital, earmarked for infrastructure and open-source development around Omarchy, a desktop Linux distribution.
