Ondo Finance has introduced Ondo Private Markets, a platform designed to bring the economic exposure of leading private companies on-chain through Tokenized Notes. Under the structure described by the company, each token’s payoff is tied to the per-share value of the relevant company’s common stock in a qualifying liquidity event, including an initial public offering or another exit event. Ondo Finance said the tokens will be freely transferable and can be used alongside on-chain DeFi applications. The company framed the launch around access: it said many high-growth U.S. businesses remain private for longer, leaving ordinary investors unable to participate in early-stage value creation. Citing data, Ondo Finance said about 87% of U.S. companies with more than $100 million in revenue are still privately held, while traditional private-market opportunities are largely concentrated among institutional investors and venture capital firms. The announcement was reported by prnewswire.
