Ondo said on Oct. 8 that it has officially launched Ondo Private Markets, a new offering aimed at qualified investors seeking tokenized exposure to private companies before they go public. The first instrument listed on the platform is an OpenAI private market note. According to Ondo, the product is built around three main features. First, it allows 24/7 trading from day one through the spot order book on Ondo Perps, so investors do not need to wait for a company to list publicly. Second, the tokens are self-custodied and transferable, meaning users can hold them in their own wallets and move them between eligible holders. Third, Ondo said the new market runs on the same infrastructure used for its tokenized stock and tokenized U.S. Treasury products. The company added that the platform behind those products has reached $3.9 billion in total value locked and serves more than 1 million holders. Ondo also stated that the note does not represent OpenAI shares or equity, and holders do not receive any shareholder rights in OpenAI. It said there is no affiliation, partnership, or endorsement relationship between Ondo and OpenAI.
