Payments giant Paypal officially launched Paypal Links on September 15, 2025, a new feature that allows users to send and receive money through personalized one-time links that can be shared in any conversation — from text messages to emails and social media DMs. Built on the Paypal World interoperability platform, the initiative aims to connect global digital wallets and make money movement as effortless as sending a message.

Paypal Links: Payments Meet Conversations

According to the company, “U.S. users can start creating personalized payment links today, with expansion to the UK, Italy, and other markets later this month.” A user simply generates a one-time link and shares it via text, DM, or email; the recipient clicks the link to complete the transaction without needing to exchange bank details or wallet addresses. Diego Scotti, general manager of Paypal’s consumer group, commented: “For 25 years, Paypal has revolutionized how money moves between people. Now, we're taking the next major step. Whether you're texting, messaging, or emailing, now your money follows your conversations.”

Crypto Integration Confirmed: Bitcoin, Ethereum, and PYUSD on the Horizon

The biggest revelation is Paypal’s confirmation that crypto functionality is coming. “Crypto will soon be directly integrated into Paypal’s new P2P payment flow in the app. This will make it more convenient for Paypal users in the U.S. to send bitcoin, ethereum, PYUSD, and more, to Paypal, Venmo, as well as a rapidly growing number of digital wallets across the world that support crypto and stablecoins,” the company stated. On social media platform X, Paypal reiterated: “Coming next: crypto support for peer-to-peer via the Paypal app — including bitcoin, ethereum, and PYUSD — for easy, secure sending across Paypal, Venmo, and supported wallets.” This means users will soon be able to send cryptocurrencies directly within the chat-like payment interface, bypassing traditional exchange steps or complex on-chain operations.

Growth Metrics and Strategic Context

Paypal also emphasized that friends-and-family transfers remain exempt from 1099-K reporting, lowering the barrier for casual users. Data shows that peer-to-peer payment volume increased 10% year-over-year in the second quarter, and Venmo recorded its strongest payment growth in three years. With Paypal World extending interoperability to billions of wallets, management expects that crypto integration will further accelerate global P2P activity. This feature upgrade not only cements Paypal’s leadership in digital payments but also marks a significant step in the deep integration of cryptocurrencies into the mainstream payment ecosystem.
