PayPal reported second-quarter results that beat expectations, according to Bloomberg. The company posted adjusted earnings per share of $1.38, ahead of analysts’ forecast of $1.27, while total payment volume reached $486.4 billion and also came in above market estimates. PayPal also raised its 2026 adjusted earnings per share guidance to $5.38, a level Bloomberg said was higher than last year. Bloomberg also noted that private equity firm Advent and payments rival Stripe had previously made takeover offers of about $60 per share. PayPal did not respond to that matter in its latest statement. Separately, new CEO Enrique Lores, who took over in March this year, has already reorganized business lines and plans to cut about 20% of the workforce over the next two to three years.
