Phantom Wallet has officially started the early access rollout of its Phantom Cash Visa debit card in the United States. The card, issued by Lead Bank and managed by Bridge Ventures, supports Apple Pay and Google Pay, enabling users to seamlessly deposit and withdraw both fiat currency and cryptocurrencies, as well as direct bank transfers. Full access requires identity verification.

Key Features and Positioning

Phantom clarified that it is not a bank, and the prepaid Visa card comes with applicable fees. The card bridges the gap between traditional finance and digital assets, allowing users to spend crypto balances at millions of merchants that accept contactless payments. By integrating with Apple Pay and Google Pay, Phantom aims to offer a frictionless spending experience for its user base.

Competitive Landscape

The launch follows similar moves in the crypto payment space. MetaMask and Aave recently introduced a Mastercard-linked aUSDC spending card, while Paybis secured MiCA and PSD2 licenses to expand EU crypto payments. Phantom, known as one of the leading self-custody wallets on Solana, is now entering the payment card market to build a more comprehensive crypto financial ecosystem.

International Expansion Plans

Phantom has indicated that an international version of the Phantom Cash card is in development and will be released soon. With Bridge Ventures overseeing the card program, the company will navigate different regulatory frameworks. Currently, only US residents on the waitlist can access the card, with phased onboarding expected.
