Pi Network is seeing renewed scrutiny as price weakness, limited utility concerns, and more than 12 million tokens set to unlock in 30 days keep pressure on sentiment, even as the project rolls out app and protocol updates.

Pi Network is back in focus this week as traders and community members fixate on one issue: price weakness and the ongoing push for a Binance listing. Crypto watcher Dr. Altcoin said on X that the Pi Core Team has delivered limited real-world utility so far, a gap he argues is one reason many Pioneers continue selling their holdings.

His main warning centers on supply. He said more than 12 million coins could unlock over the next 30 days, and that kind of fresh supply reaching exchanges usually adds pressure to price. In his view, Pi Coin is unlikely to stage a meaningful recovery without either genuine utility or a major exchange listing such as Binance.

Project updates continue across apps and network infrastructure

The project has still been shipping updates. On July 9, Pi App Studio received two upgrades. Apps built on the platform can now retain user data between visits, adding a basic feature that had previously been missing. The second change introduced an “App Planning Phase,” where AI asks developers about the app idea, goal, and target audience before development begins.

There was also movement at the protocol level. Protocol 25 completed its rollout on June 18, with the stated aim of keeping mainnet nodes connected and operating smoothly. On the Testnet side, Pi opened its subscription contract, known as PiRC2, for public review. The contract is designed for recurring payment use cases including streaming, memberships, and local commerce, and it is currently under external audit review.

Short-term rebound, long-term decline still intact

Based on the figures cited in the report, Pi Coin was trading at about $0.1515, up close to 2% on the day. Its market capitalization stood near $1.6 billion, while 24-hour trading volume was about $11 million. Those numbers point to a modest bounce in the latest session.

The broader trend remains much harsher. Pi is still down more than 94% from its all-time high of $2.98, recorded in February 2025. At the same time, it has recovered above its more recent low of $0.1312 from February 2026. That leaves the token in a familiar position: brief recoveries inside a much larger downtrend.

Listed elsewhere, but Binance remains the missing milestone

Pi Coin is already trading on OKX, Bitget, Gate.io, MEXC, Kraken, LBank, and BitMart. Even so, community attention remains fixed on Binance. The report notes that a Binance Square vote once showed strong support for listing Pi, yet there has been no official confirmation from either Binance or the Pi team.

Some analysts say Binance is looking for clearer tokenomics and full network decentralization before moving ahead. Until those issues are addressed, expectations for a near-term listing remain unconfirmed. For now, Pi Network sits in a split narrative: visible product and infrastructure updates on one side, and unresolved liquidity, tokenomics, and external validation concerns on the other.
