Testnet Infrastructure Moves Forward
Pi Network has launched a Remote Procedure Call (RPC) server on its Testnet, marking a notable step in the blockchain’s infrastructure buildout. Following the protocol upgrade to version 21, the new server strengthens the network’s technical foundation for smart contract development and deployment, giving developers a more functional environment to work with on the Testnet.
An RPC server acts as the communication layer between applications and the blockchain. In practical terms, it allows developers to make read-only calls without fees when accessing on-chain data, while also supporting state-changing transactions with standard fees for actions that modify the network state. This type of tooling is widely considered essential for blockchain application development and ecosystem expansion.
Token Performance Remains Weak
Despite this technical progress, the PI token continues to struggle in the market. According to the report, PI remains below $0.17, showing that infrastructure improvements alone have not been enough to reverse bearish price action. The gap between protocol development and market response remains evident in the short term.
A key factor behind the pressure is the ongoing token supply overhang. The report says that nearly 8 million PI tokens are set to be released daily, a pace that could add more selling pressure to the market. In addition, between April 15 and 17, daily unlocks are expected to exceed 18 million tokens, which may further affect price performance by increasing circulating supply over a short window.
Supply Pressure Dominates Investor Focus
Overall, the RPC server launch signals that Pi Network is continuing to improve its Testnet developer infrastructure and preparing more clearly for smart contract-related use cases. Still, from a market perspective, attention remains centered on token emissions and unlock schedules rather than technical milestones alone. Whether PI can stabilize will likely depend not just on network development, but also on how quickly ecosystem activity grows relative to the ongoing increase in token supply.
