ChainCatcher, citing Reuters, reported that Polish President Karol Nawrocki has vetoed a cryptocurrency regulation bill for the third time. The bill is designed to implement the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation, known as MiCA, and Poland is required to complete approval by July.
Parliament passed the bill in May
The Polish parliament had already passed the bill in May. The legislative process has taken place against the backdrop of a scandal surrounding the collapse of the country’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, as well as disputes over the allocation of regulatory powers and responsibilities.
Nawrocki said he supports regulation and consumer protection. However, he stated that the government’s latest version did not adopt most of the amendments previously proposed by the presidential office. He added that he would sign the bill into force only if parliament revised it in line with his comments.
