Polychain Capital founder and CEO Olaf Carlson-Wee said at the Network State conference that the firm is leading a new financing round for Network School at a $2 billion valuation. Andreessen Horowitz, better known as a16z, Coinbase, and Balaji himself are among the participating investors, though the size of the round was not disclosed. Carlson-Wee said Polychain does not focus only on incremental improvements in its investment approach. Instead, he said the firm looks for projects that use new business models or new technology to solve problems in a different way. He also said he has known and worked with Balaji for more than a decade and that he is looking forward to taking part in the Network School financing.
