Polymarket has appointed Warren Jenson as its first chief financial officer, according to Bloomberg, adding a veteran finance executive as the prediction market platform looks for a new round of funding and tries to rebuild growth. Jenson joined the company this week after holding senior finance roles at Nielsen and LiveRamp. Bloomberg said the move comes as Polymarket has recently fallen behind rival Kalshi in the competition between the two platforms. The appointment points to a push to strengthen Polymarket’s financial management structure ahead of future fundraising and expansion. Earlier this month, the company was reported to have raised about $1 billion in a round led by 1789 Capital, where Donald Trump Jr. is a partner. That deal would value Polymarket at about $21 billion once completed. Polymarket has also kept expanding its product lineup, launching a social feature called Squads on Sept. 8 that brings group chat into the prediction market experience.

Prediction market platform Polymarket has appointed Warren Jenson as its first chief financial officer, according to Bloomberg, as the company looks for a new funding round and tries to rebuild momentum while chasing rival Kalshi.

Jenson joined Polymarket this week. He previously held senior finance roles at media research company Nielsen and marketing technology company LiveRamp. Jenson is 69 years old and has decades of finance management experience, while Polymarket founder and CEO Shayne Coplan is 28.

Finance hire comes as competition with Kalshi intensifies

Bloomberg said Polymarket has recently started to fall behind its main rival Kalshi, prompting the company to seek new investment and work to regain growth. Bringing in its first CFO signals an effort to tighten its financial management structure and prepare for future fundraising and business expansion.

About $1 billion financing reported earlier this month

Polymarket had already secured a major financing round before this appointment. In early September, 1789 Capital, where Donald Trump Jr. is a partner, led a financing round of about $1 billion. Once the transaction is completed, Polymarket would be valued at about $21 billion, according to the report.

Product expansion continues

Polymarket has also continued to broaden its business rollout. On Sept. 8, the platform launched Squads, a social feature that adds group chat to the prediction market product.
