Pump.fun said on Oct. 9 that it has updated its Custom Pairs feature, widening the range of assets that newly launched tokens can be paired with on the platform. Until now, new tokens could only be paired against tokenized stocks or whitelisted tokens. Under the new setup, they can also be paired with any token issued on Pump.fun that is still on the bonding curve or has already graduated to PumpSwap.
The platform said tokens that have already graduated to Raydium are not supported for now unless they are on the whitelist, with Fartcoin named as one example of a whitelisted project. Pump.fun said derivative launches tied to popular tokens had previously split user attention and liquidity. With the new mechanism, when users buy a new token paired with an existing token, the funds are first swapped into the paired token and then used to purchase the new token. According to the platform, that process adds buy pressure to the original token’s pool and deepens its liquidity.
Pump.fun also said pairing depth is currently limited to one layer, and pair relationships for tokens that are already live cannot be changed. It added that fee calculation for multi-hop swaps has been adjusted to prevent fees from stacking across each hop.

The platform said derivative tokens built around popular coins had previously pulled away attention and liquidity. Under the new mechanism, when a user buys a newly issued token paired with an existing token, the funds are first swapped into the paired token and then used to buy the new token. Pump.fun said this would bring buy pressure to the original token pool and make liquidity deeper.
For now, pairing depth is limited to one layer. Pair relationships for tokens that are already live cannot be changed. Pump.fun also said it has adjusted fee calculations for multi-hop swaps so costs do not stack at each step.
