Spanish AI firm Multiverse Computing has released Quasar 438B, a 438-billion-parameter inference model scoring 43 on Artificial Analysis, making it the top European model on the leaderboard. However, it only matches Alibaba's 27-billion-parameter Qwen3.8-27B in the low compute tier, while Claude Fable 5.1 max reaches 66. The model is closed-source, and the community suspects it may be a fine-tuned version of another model, though Multiverse claims it as an original model.

Multiverse Computing, a Spanish AI company, has officially launched Quasar 438B, an inference model with 438 billion parameters. According to independent benchmark provider Artificial Analysis, the model scored 43, surpassing Mistral Medium 3.5's 30 and becoming the highest-scoring European model on the current leaderboard.

However, the "European No. 1" title falls far short of global frontier models. In the same Artificial Analysis intelligence index, Claude Fable 5.1 max achieved 66 in the high compute tier. Alibaba's 27-billion-parameter Qwen3.8 27B also scored 43 in the low compute tier, 44 in medium, and 52 in xhigh.

Notably, Quasar does not have open weights, and Multiverse has not disclosed the model architecture, training data, or actual activated parameter count. The community has already raised questions about whether it is fine-tuned from another model, though the official documentation explicitly lists it as an "Original Model."
