Rain, a stablecoin card issuing and payments platform, has acquired Ansa, a provider of branded stored-value and closed-loop payment solutions. As part of the deal, Ansa's team will join Rain, and its founder and CEO, Sophia Goldberg, will take on the role of head of payments at Rain.
Ansa gives merchants a branded prepaid wallet and incentive tools, letting customers spend their stored balances at existing POS terminals over the Mastercard network. Rain says it intends to combine its own Visa and Mastercard issuing capabilities to bring those balances into more merchant settings, tying them together with wallet, rewards, and stablecoin features.
Before the acquisition, Ansa had raised roughly $19.4 million in total funding.
