Ripple said asset managers and other commercial projects are preparing to use the XRP Ledger’s Batch V1.1 feature, according to CoinDesk.
Batch V1.1 groups up to eight transactions
The feature can combine as many as eight transactions into a single operation and process them on an all-or-nothing basis. That means every transaction in the batch must succeed together or the entire operation is canceled, avoiding cases where one side settles and the other does not.
Ripple said the upgrade could support delivery-versus-payment, or DVP, by allowing asset transfers and payments to complete at the same time. It would also let exchanges, wallets, and marketplace platforms add service fees directly into customer transactions for processing in the same flow.
Validator support has cleared the activation threshold
RippleX Head of Engineering Ayo Akinyele said some projects are already building around Batch. Once activated, he said, the amendment would bring that work closer to production, with partner names and launch dates to be announced after plans are finalized.
The amendment has received support from 30 of 35 tracked XRP Ledger validators, above the 28 votes required to begin the activation countdown. That countdown started on Sept. 15. If validator support remains above 80% for 14 days, Batch V1.1 is expected to activate shortly after Sept. 29.
Earlier version was withdrawn after a signature-check flaw
Researchers found a serious flaw in Batch V1’s signature verification process in February. Under certain conditions, the process could stop checking signatures too early, which could allow an attacker to include transactions from other accounts without authorization. Developers later withdrew the original version.
Because the amendment had not been activated at the time, the vulnerable code never ran on the live ledger and no funds were exposed.
