Robinhood has reportedly added about $25 million worth of bitcoin to its corporate balance sheet, according to comments made by Johann Kerbrat, the company’s Senior Vice President and General Manager of Crypto and International, during an interview on The Starting Block at Digital Asset Summit Asia on Wednesday. Robinhood has not formally confirmed the purchase, and CoinDesk said it contacted the company’s press team to ask whether it plans to acquire more BTC or other tokens. Kerbrat said the move reflects how seriously Robinhood views bitcoin and the broader crypto ecosystem. He also noted that the company’s size means the purchase is unlikely to materially alter its overall business trajectory. The development places Robinhood among a rising number of public companies holding BTC as a treasury asset, alongside firms such as Tesla, Block, MARA Holdings, CleanSpark and Riot Platforms. The report also highlights Robinhood’s broader crypto push. In July, the company launched Robinhood Chain, an Arbitrum-based Ethereum-compatible Layer 2 focused on tokenized real-world assets and decentralized finance. Since the mainnet launch, it has rolled out tokenized stocks, the USDG stablecoin, Robinhood Earn lending products, and integrations with Uniswap, Chainlink, Alchemy and BitGo.

Robinhood has reportedly added about $25 million worth of bitcoin to its corporate balance sheet, though the company has not formally confirmed the purchase.

The disclosure came from Johann Kerbrat, Robinhood’s Senior Vice President and General Manager of Crypto and International, during an interview on The Starting Block at the Digital Asset Summit Asia conference on Wednesday.

Kerbrat said adding BTC to the balance sheet shows how deeply the company cares about bitcoin and its ecosystem. He added: 「Robinhood is a massive company at this point, with a market cap in the $100 billion range. So the $25 million worth of bitcoin is not going to change a lot of the current trajectory of the company.」

CoinDesk said it separately contacted Robinhood’s press team to ask whether the company plans to acquire more BTC or other tokens in the future.

Robinhood joins the list of public companies holding BTC

The reported purchase places Robinhood among a growing group of public companies that hold bitcoin as a treasury asset. Nasdaq-listed Strategy began that trend in 2020, and more than 170 firms worldwide now follow it, according to the report.

Current corporate holders named in the report include Tesla, Block, MARA Holdings, CleanSpark and Riot Platforms. Together, those companies account for more than 1.2 million BTC on their balance sheets.

Crypto expansion continues

Robinhood, which has more than 28 million funded customers globally, has been expanding its crypto business beyond trading services.

In July, the company launched Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum-compatible Layer 2 built on Arbitrum and aimed at tokenized real-world assets and decentralized finance.

Since the mainnet debut, the chain has introduced tokenized stock products, the USDG stablecoin, and yield-bearing lending through Robinhood Earn. It has also integrated DeFi protocol Uniswap and infrastructure providers Chainlink, Alchemy and BitGo.

Robinhood has not provided additional public detail on whether the bitcoin allocation has been completed or whether more purchases may follow.
