Robinhood has completed its $180 million acquisition of Canadian fintech firm WonderFi, gaining control of the country’s two regulated cryptocurrency exchanges, Bitbuy and Coinsquare. The deal, reported by Cointelegraph, marks the US-based commission-free trading platform’s official entry into the Canadian crypto market.

Robinhood has offered cryptocurrency trading to US customers since 2018, supporting major assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum. With Bitbuy and Coinsquare now under its umbrella, the company can directly serve Canadian users with compliant buying and selling services, leveraging existing infrastructure rather than building from scratch.
Both Bitbuy and Coinsquare are among the early wave of crypto trading platforms to receive regulatory approval in Canada, boasting established user bases and brand recognition. This integration significantly expands Robinhood’s North American footprint and advances its international growth ambitions.
