Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev said the company does not want Robinhood Chain to succeed by choosing or promoting a small set of preferred crypto projects. In an interview with The Rollup on Oct. 1, Tenev said one reason the chain can work is that Robinhood has not tried to pick winners, including the kind of established DeFi protocols raised in the interview, such as Uniswap. He said Robinhood wants to support developers, but placed greater weight on keeping the platform neutral and pushing costs down as much as possible. Tenev added that, in his view, Robinhood already ranks first in developer activity. He also described the team’s standing priority in simple terms: get as many people as possible onto Robinhood Chain and keep improving the network.
Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev said Robinhood Chain is being built around platform neutrality rather than support for a select group of crypto protocols.
Speaking to The Rollup on Oct. 1, Tenev said one reason Robinhood Chain can succeed is that the company has not deliberately chosen or promoted specific "winners." The comment came in response to a question about high-quality DeFi protocols, with Uniswap mentioned during the exchange.
Tenev said: "One reason Robinhood Chain can succeed is that we have not intentionally picked or backed certain winners. We do want to help developers, but it is more important to keep the platform neutral and reduce fees as much as possible — and that is something we have already done."
He also said he believes Robinhood already ranks first in developer activity.
On the team’s broader focus, Tenev said Robinhood will continue to work around one core priority: bringing as many people as possible to Robinhood Chain and making it as good as it can be.
