Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev said the company’s upcoming Robinhood Chain is not limited to real-world asset tokenization. In a post on X, he said the network is being built to become the preferred blockchain for tokenized RWAs, while the same infrastructure also “works great for memes.” That comment places meme tokens alongside tokenized financial assets in Robinhood’s plan for the chain.
RWA infrastructure with room for community-driven tokens
The statement adds detail to how Robinhood wants to position the network before launch. The company has repeatedly highlighted real-world asset tokenization, but Tenev’s latest remarks show the layer 2 is also meant to serve projects built around online communities and crypto-native demand. The message is clear: Robinhood is not designing the chain for a single use case.
Robinhood Chain is a layer 2 built on Arbitrum. The company said it is being developed to institutional standards, while also giving developers a streamlined environment for decentralized applications and tokenized financial products. That dual focus appears central to the rollout, with the network aimed at both institutional builders and retail-facing developers.
Tokenized stocks, lending, and perpetuals arrive with the chain push
Robinhood introduced the blockchain alongside several other crypto products. The list includes tokenized stocks, decentralized lending products, expanded perpetual futures, and AI-powered trading tools. Seen together, those launches show Robinhood is building a broader digital asset stack rather than relying only on its trading platform.
The structure of the announcement matters. The chain functions as the base layer, while tokenized assets, lending, and derivatives sit above it as user-facing products. Robinhood is framing this as an ecosystem expansion, not a one-off product release.
Uniswap, Pleiades, Chainlink, BitGo, and Alchemy back the rollout
Several established crypto firms are set to support the network. Uniswap plans to deploy a dedicated automated market maker to provide liquidity on Robinhood Chain. Pleiades will add its own proprietary trading-focused automated market maker, giving the chain another liquidity venue from launch.
On the infrastructure side, Robinhood Chain will integrate with Alchemy, BitGo, and Chainlink. According to the announcement, those relationships cover developer tooling, custody, blockchain connectivity, and smart contract functionality. For a new chain, those services shape how easily builders can deploy applications and how assets can be supported from day one.
AI-powered Agentic Accounts are part of the product suite
Robinhood’s expansion also includes AI-powered Agentic Accounts for eligible cryptocurrency traders in the United States. The company said these tools are intended to automate parts of trading activity and improve portfolio management. No launch date was provided for the feature, but it was presented as part of the same broader package announced with the blockchain.
Tenev’s comments show Robinhood is trying to pull together multiple segments of the crypto market under one network. The company is pairing tokenized real-world assets with meme tokens, while adding liquidity infrastructure, custody and oracle support, and AI trading tools around the chain.
