Robinhood is still moving through the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission process tied to an "Innovation Exemption" for tokenized stocks, according to Johann Kerbrat, the company’s crypto business lead. Speaking during Korea Blockchain Week 2026, Kerbrat said trading volume in Robinhood’s stock tokens could eventually reach the regulatory limits set by the SEC. The exemption framework, introduced earlier by the SEC, allows eligible tokenized securities trading platforms to offer on-chain stock trading if they meet specific requirements. Those conditions include limits on the number of stocks that can be traded, caps on trading scale, disclosure obligations, and a requirement that holders of tokenized stocks receive the same rights as holders of traditional shares. Robinhood is currently exploring business opportunities tied to tokenized equities under that structure.

Robinhood is still advancing its application process with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for an "Innovation Exemption" related to tokenized stocks, Johann Kerbrat, head of Robinhood Crypto, said during Korea Blockchain Week 2026 on Oct. 2, according to BlockBeats.

Kerbrat said trading volume in Robinhood’s stock tokens could eventually reach the regulatory limits set by the SEC.

SEC framework allows on-chain stock trading under conditions

The SEC’s Innovation Exemption framework previously opened a path for eligible tokenized securities trading platforms to conduct on-chain stock trading, provided they satisfy a set of requirements. The framework also places limits on the number of stocks that may be traded and on overall trading scale.

Robinhood is currently exploring business related to tokenized stocks. Under the SEC framework, holders of tokenized shares must receive the same rights as holders of traditional stocks, while platforms must also comply with conditions covering tradable products, trading volume, and disclosures.
