Runway has unveiled Project Continuum, a research operating system prototype that pushes its Solaris real-time generative interface concept beyond individual app screens and into broader computer interaction. Solaris had previously been used to show how AI could generate app interfaces frame by frame. With Continuum, Runway applies the same approach to web browsing, agent-based workflows, and 3D interaction. In the demo, web content can be turned directly into an interactive 3D scene, while an AI agent carrying out a task can generate a matching visual interface at the same time. Rather than relying on developers to predefine every possible screen state, the system updates pages in real time based on the current content and task. Runway described Project Continuum as a research prototype and has not announced when it will be opened to users.

Runway has presented Project Continuum, a research operating system prototype that extends Solaris from frame-by-frame app interface generation to full computer interaction.

Solaris had previously focused on showing how AI could generate app interfaces one frame at a time. Continuum takes that same approach and applies it to web browsing, agent invocation, and 3D interaction.

Interfaces update in real time with the task

In the Continuum demo, users viewing a webpage can turn its contents directly into an interactive 3D scene. When an AI agent performs a task, the system can also generate a matching visual interface at the same time. Pages change in real time according to the current content and task, without requiring every state to be designed in advance.

In traditional software, most interfaces are predefined by developers. Continuum shifts part of that process to real-time generation, allowing the computer to create a more suitable page and interaction method based on what the user is doing.

Project Continuum is still a research prototype, and Runway has not announced an opening timeline.
