A poll in Russia found that public understanding and hands-on use of cryptocurrency remain limited even after the country moved to legalize digital assets. According to the survey, 69% of respondents said they could not identify any practical use for cryptocurrencies. Another 54% said they had almost no understanding of crypto, while only 6% reported direct experience using it. The survey was conducted from July 23 to July 30 and covered more than 2,000 internet users. The findings came as Russia continues to formalize its legal framework for digital assets. At the same time, the Russian president signed the Law on Digital Currency and Digital Rights on Aug. 4. The new rules will take effect on Sept. 1, allowing trading and custody through regulated channels. Domestic everyday payments with digital currency will still be banned. Licensing requirements for intermediaries are scheduled to become mandatory in July 2027. The item cited crypto.news as the source of the underlying report.
