According to ZDNet Korea, Samsung Display plans to significantly increase OLED supply for Apple's foldable phones and iPads in 2026. The foldable OLED target rises from ~8 million units this year to 15 million, while iPad OLED jumps from ~2 million to 9 million, totaling ~24 million. Apple will launch its first foldable phone in H2 2026, with Samsung Display supplying 7.8-inch foldable OLED. UBI Research forecasts iPhone OLED demand at ~264.7 million units this year.

Samsung Display's Expansion Plan

ChainCatcher, quoting ZDNet Korea, says Samsung Display is getting ready to ramp up OLED supply for Apple's foldable phones and iPads next year. The target for foldable OLED climbs from roughly 8 million units this year to 15 million in 2026. For iPad OLED, the figure moves from about 2 million to 9 million. That pushes the combined total from around 10 million to 24 million. Samsung Display counts Apple as one of its main buyers for small- and medium-sized OLEDs.

Market Forecasts and Shipment Expectations

UBI Research, the market research firm, projects total iPhone OLED demand at about 264.7 million units this year. Of that, Samsung Display is expected to supply around 144 million units, and it is aiming for 148 million next year. Apple plans to release its first foldable phone in the second half of 2026, and Samsung Display will provide a 7.8-inch foldable OLED for it. As for iPads, OLED has been used in Pro models since 2024. And this year it spreads to the mini, then to the Air next year.

Pricing and Shipment Uncertainties

The report, citing industry sources, says a foldable phone priced at around $2,500 could see shipments hit about 6 million units this year and 11 million next year. But if pricing goes higher, or if supply chain problems show up, shipments could fall even more. So Samsung Display's supply targets could still shift with market conditions.
