Samsung SDS said on July 20 that it has launched a service-based NPU offering on Samsung Cloud Platform, built on FuriosaAI’s second-generation neural processing unit, Renegade (RGND). The company said the Korean-developed NPU is designed for AI inference and can be used for response generation from trained AI models, document analysis, and image classification. Under the new NPUaaS model, customers do not need to buy NPU servers directly or build their own data centers, and can instead access the service through a subscription on SCP. Samsung SDS said enterprises can choose configurations with 1, 2, 4, or 8 NPUs depending on workload and data size, and combine them with SCP’s high-performance storage, compute, and high-speed networking products. The company also said the service will be offered in SCP’s sovereign cloud environment for public-sector clients subject to strict security regulation.
Samsung SDS said on July 20 that it has launched a service-based NPU offering, or NPUaaS, on Samsung Cloud Platform (SCP), built on FuriosaAI’s second-generation neural processing unit Renegade (RGND).
According to the company, Renegade is a Korean-developed NPU for AI inference and is intended for tasks involving trained AI models, including response generation, document analysis, and image classification. Samsung SDS said customers using the NPUaaS product do not need to purchase NPU servers directly or build their own data centers, and can instead use the service on a subscription basis through SCP.
Enterprises can choose 1, 2, 4, or 8 NPUs based on their needs and data scale, and use them alongside SCP products such as high-performance storage, compute, and high-speed networking. Samsung SDS also said the NPUaaS product will be provided in SCP’s sovereign cloud environment to support public-sector customers that operate under strict security regulation.
Lee Ho-jun, head of Samsung SDS’s cloud service business division, said the company will continue to expand its SCP-based product lineup.
