Samsung SDS launches Renegade-based NPUaaS on Samsung Cloud Platform
Samsung SDS said on July 20 that it has launched a service-based NPU offering on Samsung Cloud Platform, built on FuriosaAI’s second-generation neural processing unit, Renegade (RGND). The company said the Korean-developed NPU is designed for AI inference and can be used for response generation from trained AI models, document analysis, and image classification. Under the new NPUaaS model, customers do not need to buy NPU servers directly or build their own data centers, and can instead access the service through a subscription on SCP. Samsung SDS said enterprises can choose configurations with 1, 2, 4, or 8 NPUs depending on workload and data size, and combine them with SCP’s high-performance storage, compute, and high-speed networking products. The company also said the service will be offered in SCP’s sovereign cloud environment for public-sector clients subject to strict security regulation.
