According to a KB Securities report cited by user Serenity, Samsung and SK Hynix's memory chip inventory fell below 10 days of supply in Q3. KB analyst Kim Dong-won warns of absolute shortage, with potential depletion of sellable products next year. Investors are bullish on scarcity and price hikes, boosting KOSPI, Micron, and SanDisk outlook through 2027.
Inventory Below 10-Day Threshold
In a recent report from KB Securities, research head Kim Dong-won revealed that Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix's memory chip inventory has dropped to less than 10 days of supply as of the third quarter. "This goes beyond simple demand recovery — the available supply could become absolutely insufficient. It's very possible that sellable memory products may be exhausted next year," Kim noted.
Investor Optimism
Serenity, a user on X, commented that it's rare to see investors cheering for "shortages" and "price hikes" in any other industry. He added that amid strong demand-driven shortages and rising infrastructure spending, the outlook for the KOSPI index and related stocks like Micron and SanDisk looks quite optimistic through 2027.
