Samsung said on Oct. 7 that Samsung Wallet and Samsung Pay will support USDC transfers on Solana for cross-border remittances, according to The Block. The feature is set to reach 82 million Galaxy devices in the United States starting in the final week of October. Rather than launching as a standalone crypto app, the service will be built directly into Samsung Wallet and will include fiat on- and off-ramps. Users will be able to send USDC to compatible external wallets, while Solana and Sui infrastructure will run in the background. Samsung said it will not charge transfer fees, though receiving wallets or exchanges may still apply their own charges. The underlying framework is being developed with Bastion, a licensed U.S. stablecoin custodian, and Coinbase will custody USDC held in Samsung Wallet through Coinbase Prime. Samsung also said the wallet supports transfers to eligible bank accounts in more than 60 countries, with funds delivered in the recipient’s local currency, and that it plans to expand the service to additional markets where local regulations allow.

Built into Samsung Wallet

The service will be integrated into Samsung Wallet rather than offered as a standalone crypto app. It includes fiat on- and off-ramp channels, and users will be able to send USDC to compatible external wallets.

Solana and Sui infrastructure will operate in the background. The underlying framework is being developed in partnership with Bastion, a licensed U.S. stablecoin custodian.

Custody and fees

Coinbase will custody USDC held in Samsung Wallet through Coinbase Prime. Samsung said it will not charge transfer fees, although receiving wallets or exchanges may impose their own fees.

Transfer coverage and expansion plan

The wallet also supports transfers to eligible bank accounts in more than 60 countries, with funds delivered in the recipient’s local currency. Samsung said it plans to expand the service to more markets, subject to local regulatory requirements.
