SFx Money App has launched Naira (NGN) accounts on its platform, allowing users to open personal Nigerian bank accounts in their own names within minutes. The rollout lets users receive and manage Naira payments directly inside the app, extending SFx beyond its earlier focus on stablecoin-based financial services.
NGN accounts are now available inside the app
The company said the feature is aimed at Nigerians at home and abroad, especially people who have struggled to maintain access to local banking services. The source notes that some Nigerians left the country at a young age and never opened a local bank account, while others have relied on relatives or friends to receive funds on their behalf. With the new setup, eligible users can create a Naira account directly in the SFx app, and the account is issued in the user’s own name.
Where required, users may also obtain a Bank Verification Number, or BVN, during the account creation process. SFx says this can help users access more financial services and strengthen their financial identity within Nigeria’s banking system.
From stablecoin transfers to local-currency banking
SFx had already built its service around cross-border payments powered by USDC and USDT. By adding Naira accounts, the platform is tying local banking rails to digital finance tools in a single product. According to the announcement, users can move funds more easily between local currencies and digital assets while using a broader set of payment and money-management features.
The launch follows SFx’s earlier addition of USD, GBP, and EUR foreign currency accounts. With NGN now included, the company says it is continuing to build a financial ecosystem where users can send, receive, save, and spend money globally from one app.
Built for Nigerians living outside the country
SFx expects the feature to be particularly useful for Nigerians abroad who still need dependable access to local banking for family support, business payments, personal savings, and everyday financial activity. Instead of routing funds through third parties, users can now manage their own Naira accounts directly through the platform.
Muqaddis Kolawole, Chief Marketing Officer at SFx Money App, said many Nigerians overseas have found it difficult to access a personal Naira account. Some left the country young and never had the chance to open one, while others have depended on family members’ accounts for years. She said the new feature allows users to create a Naira account in their own names through the app and, where needed, obtain a BVN as part of the process.
Company positioning and disclosure
SFx described the launch as part of its effort to build a borderless financial platform where users can handle local and international transactions in one place. The company presents itself as a fintech startup focused on helping foreigners and businesses overseas receive money and spend more easily.
