The Smarter Web Company (Aquis: SWC), a London-listed web design and online marketing firm, announced the purchase of an additional 45 bitcoin at an average price of £82,919 (approximately $111,758) as part of its ongoing “10 Year Plan” treasury policy. This latest acquisition brings its total bitcoin holdings to 2,440 BTC, with a cumulative average cost of £82,409 (about $111,071) and a total purchase amount of roughly £201,077,906.

The company reported an approximate net cash balance of £600,000 available for further bitcoin purchases. It also disclosed an impressive year-to-date BTC yield of 56,105% and a 30-day BTC yield of 28% on its treasury, reflecting the appreciation of its bitcoin holdings relative to cost.

Commitment to Bitcoin Accumulation

The Smarter Web Company, which has accepted bitcoin payments since 2023, reiterated that its treasury strategy prioritizes continued bitcoin accumulation alongside organic growth and targeted acquisitions to expand recurring revenue. The firm’s “10 Year Plan” aims to allocate a significant portion of cash reserves into bitcoin as a long-term store of value.

This latest purchase comes amid a period of relative price stability for bitcoin, signaling management’s conviction in the digital asset. While the company’s total holdings of 2,440 BTC are modest compared to larger corporate holders like MicroStrategy, its BTC yield metrics stand out due to the timing of its purchases and the accounting treatment applied.

The company did not specify the accounting method for its bitcoin holdings. Under current standards, digital assets are typically measured at cost, with unrealized gains only recognized upon sale. However, the reported BTC yield may be calculated based on the ratio of the market value to the cumulative cost, similar to the methodology used by MicroStrategy.

As more publicly traded companies consider bitcoin as a treasury asset, The Smarter Web Company serves as another example of a smaller firm adopting a long-term accumulation strategy. Investors will watch for further details in the company’s next earnings report and whether other UK-listed firms will follow suit.
