Programmable privacy infrastructure startup Soda Labs has raised a $3 million seed round led by NextBlock, according to BlockBeats. The company said it spent the past two and a half years building a cryptographic privacy system that combines garbled circuits and multi-party computation, or GC-MPC. Soda Labs said the system relies on established cryptographic standards including AES and SHA256, and that its privacy engine runs on standard cloud CPUs rather than specialized hardware. That setup is designed to let applications perform private computation while staying connected to existing public blockchain infrastructure. NextBlock founder Pieter van Poecke said the firm was drawn to the practicality of the technology, not cryptography alone, adding that Soda already has a working product and paying customers. Soda Labs said the new capital will fund its focus on commercial adoption and execution over the next 12 to 18 months. The company also plans to expand its architecture beyond gcEVM, an Ethereum Layer 2 privacy layer still running on COTI, toward Soda Bubble, a chain-agnostic coprocessor built for programmable privacy. As Bubble goes live, Soda Labs is rolling out across major EVM networks including Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum and Base, while also moving into non-EVM ecosystems such as Solana.
